buried service & drainage services
These are surveys to establish underground-buried routes of services such as telephone services, electricity, gas etc. This is done, depending on the individual circumstances, with existing utility records and with using the latest scanning equipment to detect depth and location of cables. It should be noted, however, for future building work that confirmation of service should always be done by a trial hole carefully exposing the service from drawings produced.
Drainage surveys include giving the invert level (depth) of drainpipes, recording diameter of pipes, condition and construction, manhole size, backdrops etc. The plan produced will show direction of flow and type. It should be noted that surveys that require personnel to enter manholes are subject to stringent health and safety regulations in respect of confined spaces and gaseous environments. Requirements will be discussed with client at the time of enquiry.
Drain runs are located by use of a long thin 'drain rod' and sonde (an electronic signal producing detector). If hidden junctions are required to be measured and recorded we may advise that a CCTV survey is recommended.
We have the expertise and equipment to lift covers that may have been trafficed for a long time and are difficult to gain access to. We have found many clients experience this problem on their premises.
These surveys can be undertaken on a fixed price contract or daily rate basis. We always advise on the most cost effective and sensible budget option, depending on each individual situation. |
